The 1845
We recently filmed with Channel 5 for a TV series called 'Britain's Most Scenic Counties: Cheshire'. The show airs on 31st October 2025 & follows our journey of bringing an old recipe back into the limelight.
Using a recipe from 1845, Hugo & Charlotte decided to make a batch & trial it with their existing customers & local business owners in an attempt to bring something new to the table when it comes to Cheshire cheese...
You can now buy the 1845 on our website. We'd love to hear your opinions. Is the old way the best way? Let us know what you think...
Best Farmhouse Cheshire Cheese 2024
We were delighted to win Best Cheshire at The International Cheese & Dairy Awards 2024.
It was a great honour to receive two awards at such a prestigious cheese show.

Welcome To Bourne's Cheshire Cheese. Cheesemakers Since 1750.
A warm welcome from all of us here at Bourne's Cheshire Cheese. We are a family run business that have been producing award winning Cheshire Cheese since 1750.
We are based in Malpas, Cheshire where the herd of Friesian cows graze on the land of The Bank, our family home since 1930. They provide us with the milk used to make our farmhouse cheese.
Unlike many other cheesemakers who use industrial production methods, we still use traditional ‘hands on’ techniques to produce cheeses which have been awarded gold, silver and bronze medals at the British Cheese Awards, prizes at the Nantwich International Cheese Show and Gold and Silver Medals at the World Cheese Awards & Best Cheshire, Gold, Silver & Bronze awards & The International Cheese & Dairy Awards.
Our Cheshire cheese is available in local farmers markets, direct from our farm and also by mail order. Click here to find out more.
About Cheshire Cheese
Cheshire cheese is one of the oldest cheeses known, dating back to Roman times. The Bourne family are the oldest producers in the UK that are still making this traditional cheese using old fashioned methods.
In recent times, Cheshire cheese has become slightly unpopular despite once being the most sought after across England. Larger producers starting creating thier versions & due to the more modern way of quick demand, they often sell it at quite a young age. We do not! To get a true taste of Cheshire cheese, you have to allow it the time it needs to mature & develop flavour.
Although not always the strongest business model, not rushing our cheese is what makes ours stand out. We have spent many years developing products within our range that are full of flavour & stick to what we know real Cheshire cheese to taste like.
